Listening is a very important aspect. The leaders should listen as that means he is understanding the other person and just not hearing. The non-verbal communication makes the backbone of communication. The leader should understand and also depict the same while communicating.
Decision Making
A good leader will always be able to make decisions ably, be adept in problem solving and also in critical thinking. All these are interrelated. There are five stages of decision-making are, Scanning, Discovery and Diagnosis, Search and Innovation, Evaluation and Choice and Authorization and Implementation.
Each component of leadership has relevance for improving the decision-making process. Their influence shows their concern about the problem and the need for its solution.
Delegation
Leaders need to be free of tackling important aspects of the mission, business and the overall picture of the project. The micro management and handling of interference in every step will digress them away. Leaders who insist on being involved in every single detail of their missions makes them loose the mission and will lose the big picture and fail to see that the mission is falling apart until it is too late.

Every job comes with different set of requirements. Each job has different set of competencies which are functional and behavioural as well. It is very important to know these in detail for efficient productivity and performance.
It is very important to talk to the supervisor about the expectations. It is important to be aligned with the organizational goals. One has to always "meet and exceed" the minimum requirements in the job. The extra expectations have to be kept within the scope of your job.
A very important step is to know the company's policies and procedures inside and out. Keeping the documents handy in a binder near the desk or in a folder will always keep them atop the mind. Whenever one is in doubt as to whether one is performing a task correctly or making an appropriate decision, check the policies and procedures to make sure if the actions are in alignment with company goals and expectations.
