Ethical Issues and Business Research

As a consultant, my ethical issues are the integrity of the engagement with the organization. There are no clear terms of engagement, and my professional code of conduct is at stake (Brooks, 2013). Bob seems decided on what they want to do and thus do not need my services. The organization should come out clear on what services they are consulting and allow the consultant to engage professionally and freely without their undue influence.

The company is facing some ethical issues mostly stemming from the restructures that it wishes to take. Firstly, there is no clear code of ethics in the organization that would guide the engagement of the employees. They also have an issue with professionalism where most of the programs taken lack professionalism(Brooks, 2013).They lack integrity and the truth. The management makes the restructuring process without involving other managers and key employees of the firm which raises more ethical issues.

As a consultant, Bob is not acting professionally in his engagement with the employees and even with the consultant. He could go ahead with his programs but would most likely fail. According to Brooks (2013), a
consultancy engagement should meet several tests including integrity, professionalism, ethics and proper terms of engagement. He needs the services of a professional consultant to engage well with the employees and
pass the changes well to them and the entire organization.

Based on the professional ethics on consulting, this engagement is not worthy and does not meet the desired standards (Brooks, 2013). It does not meet the intellectual disciplines of consultancy. Bob should, therefore, review the terms of engagement to make it viable and consider all the parties in the meeting. Currently, Bob does not factor in the consultants in making his decisions which undermine the contract.
