Finances and Finance Engineering Personal Statement
My whole life has been a long, challenging and exciting path. I grew up in China, graduated from high school, came to America, applied for university, worked in a big company and volunteered in a small one. And now my life has come to one of the most significant and challenging missions – applying for a master’s degree. So let me tell you a little about myself, my ambitions, and why I think this course will benefit my future career.
I am currently applying for the master of finance and finance engineering programs. I have been interested in finance and economics since I was a high school student, back in China. The subject of business, economy, markets and stocks always intrigued me, so I decided to study it in America, the center of international financing and business. While studying here, I realized that I am talented and experienced enough to take on a serious challenge, such as getting a master’s degree in financial engineering. And most importantly, I believe that getting such a degree is vital for my future career, as I want to dedicate my life to working in finance, and this course will provide me all the necessary skills I will need in my future profession.
My major is supply chain management. It was quite an interesting course, I learned a lot about business, accounting, marketing and financing. However, I just cannot get the feeling out of my head that I could do much better, that I should continue my education and perfect my skills before I apply for a full-time job and start my career in financing.
However, my major is not the only thing that makes me qualified for getting a master’s degree in financing. I also have an understanding of Asset Allocation, Marketing Skills, and other banking operation procedures. I obtained these skills while working in Industrial and Commercial Bank of China as a financial assistant. In my line of work, I was engaged in financial and accounting tasks, including auditing invoices, books and making statements. I was also responsible for the budget, computational salary, declaration of dutiable goods, invoices management, etc. This internship was an interesting and valuable experience and this is definitely the type of job I want to have in the future.
Moreover, in my spare time I volunteer in Project CURE. This company is the largest provider of donated medical supplies and equipment in developing countries around the world. I like working there because I am learning new skills and at the same time helping people in need through my efforts.
In addition to my work experience, I think I have several personal skills and qualities that I think would benefit my studying process. For example, I am really good at math, I took statistics and accounting classes, and I have experience in working with math and finance related software. I also consider myself a responsible student, a fast learner, and a reliable person.
To be honest, at one point, …
