Children are naive. However, the grown-up may be far more simple-minded without a sound outlook at their life. Being an adolescent, I always thought that as soon as I got adult I would be able to choose easily. I was
looking for independence from my parents and other relatives. Then, I thought that an adult did not depend on anything. I could not even imagine how wrong I was expecting total independence as the only way of the
personal happiness.
A year by year, I was expecting the time when I would be independent and free. Firstly, I was waiting for high school years and getting free from the constant control of my parents. However, my parents drew some
perspectives about my possible future and motivated my studying. I worked even harder than I used before and the most of my time was dedicated to my studying and academic success. However, I could not reuse the idea of my soon freedom from all obligations and high demands of my parents. All high school, I was thinking about the university time when I would be more independent far away from my parents. However, starting school I understood that I cannot waste my chance and investments of my parents into me. It has become the new wave of hard studying that lasts even now.
Several years have passed since the idea about the independent adulthood visited me, but I have not become independent. Moreover, I do not have such a dream anymore. The years later, I can suppose that now I
dependent on other people, environment, circumstances, and society even more than ever. As far as I realize, my choices and decision do not depend on me at all. There is the great influence of the mass media, society,
relatives, classmates, and others. At the same time, when I was a child I could not feel this awful dependence. Only my parents tried to catch me up and put to some better race than I was in. Even though I misevaluated their
actions and attempts to establish the great dependent tie for my sake, they have not ever tried to knock me down. Today, I experience two different types of dependence on the external factors, society, people, and words.
The bad decreases the level of my personality in the globalized world: I buy, eat, and drink according to the cultural principles. The good dependence is the wish to be a part of team: be dependent and influencing
other lives for the increasing benefits of the people.
I did not imagine that adults are so dependent. I feel both great pressure and happiness on being dependent. On one side, the world around me tries to change me to the common mass of people on the bases of the common
