1. I agree with the statement that the effective data management is significant in the area of the healthcare and that it consists of the efficient use of information for the purpose of improvement of the service as well as the protection of data. The successful transition to the HIPAA Version 5010 can be helpful for more effective use of data; at the same time, several steps should be followed for the effective transition. In my opinion, the most significant ones are the changes' impact on the standards of transaction, identifying the required modifications in the workflow, testing the transactions of the new version of program, upgrading the practice of management as well as the electronic system of records, and taking into consideration the needs of the staff (Russell, 2012). Following these steps helps to understand the new version better, and to successfully apply its benefits into the practice of the healthcare professionals.
2. The implementation of the Meaningful Use system can be very helpful for many hospitals in order to improve the process of keeping the personal records of the patients. I agree that the use of ICD-10 coding is quite complicated, and a number of codes are quite large to manage them. Many of the authors, who wrote on this topic also underline that the transition to HIPAA Version 5010 and the implementation of ICD-10 coding can make the system of electronic records more complicated due to the larger amounts of the transactions in the system (Danis, 2010). At the same time, this system is more standardized, and the proper approach to it can help to make the process of recording quicker and more convenient. For this purpose, the healthcare institutions should create the specific training for the employees, which will satisfy their needs in getting the knowledge about the new system of recording.
