Immigration and its Effect on the Families
Migration is the process when a person or a group of people leave one country and settle in another one with the intention to settle there down permanently. Migration in this or another form existed since the birth of the humanity. Even before the recorded history, some people migrated from Africa and across the rest of the world. People left their homes and birthplaces in order to find a new home, better protection from hostile environment, escape from war, and make their lives better in general. Some amount of people migrated upon their own desire, some people were moved because of slavery, starvation, fear of persecution or an unwanted marriage. Tribes roamed around looking for new pastures for their kettle, new places for fishery or hunting. People migrated looking for more fertile lands and more attractive environment for their settlements. Migration exists in the modern world. People still change their countries of residence due to different reasons. The USA is a country made by immigrants. It always had been a Land of Opportunity and people continue to come to America looking for their American dream every day.
There are many reasons for immigration and moving to a different place. The major reason is economic. In the modern world there is a huge economic gap between the third-world countries and the western countries. Life in despair and poverty forces people to search for a new home in a different country. Some people migrate because of natural or man-made disasters. People may change their place of living due to political reasons. There are also racial, ethnic and religious reasons. People immigrate not always because of despair. There is also work immigration. Some international students may want to choose to stay in the country of their study and work after the graduation.
Sometimes people migrate in families, sometimes migrated individuals are trying to move their family into the country of their residence after their migration. In many countries fathers of the families migrate for work, leaving their wives and children back in their home countries, supporting them with money. There is no doubt that many people immigrate because of their families, trying to change the lives of their families. It is a challenge for a family from a different background to assimilate in the new culture. Immigrants begin to create new family life living in the new country, which is influenced by customs and cultural background of the native country and moral values and cultural background of the new country. Family immigration adds up to the diversity of the country. However, some people migrate like individuals, using their own reasons as a motive, making a new family in the country of residence. The majority of people stays in touch with their families, send back the money or try to use the visa program advantages in order to bring the family members over. People migrate mostly for their families.
