Importance of CAPTE Accreditation

Taking the national physical therapy exam (NPTE) is an important step toward becoming a licensed physical therapist assistant (PTA). In order to get the license, a student should take the PTA exams, which evaluate his elementary competence.

Though the competency can be gained both at accredited programs and at the equivalent non-accredited programs, the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) is exactly what a beginner physical therapist needs, because this accrediting agency is respected by the US Department of Education (USDE) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) (American Physical Therapy Association). It is important to graduate from a CAPTE accredited PTA Program because accreditation helps the US regulatory authorities to assure the quality of the education received by students and provide standards for medical jurisdictions. Accreditation makes the physical therapist students compatible and thus increases their commitment and desire to develop. The CAPTE program is also beneficial for the students, as it helps them choose programs that will provide the education necessary to enter the PTA profession.

There is no doubt that the country needs educated specialists ready to study lifelong. Thus, the physical therapy accreditation process is beneficial both for the students and community. Undergoing accreditation is an important step toward becoming a PTA. The Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) is the most respected accrediting agency which educates students for entry into the profession.
