Medical Terminology Analysis

Week 1 Assignment 2
Part 1.
I am sitting at home in the upright position. The computer is anterior to my body slightly inferior to my eyesight. The chair is posterior to my spine and my hips proximal to the chair legs. My hands are flexed forward
with palms prone to the keyboard.
Opposite:
I am lying in bed in the prone position. The computer is posterior to my body and slightly superior to my eyesight. The bed is anterior to my back and my hips are ventral to it. My hands are proximal to my body, palms
supine to the ceiling. The position is far from comfortable for work or typing as I neither see the screen nor can write. Accordingly, the position is not suitable.

Part 2.
The suffixes in medical terminology often change the term completely (MedlinePlus, 2016). Thus, bronchitis and bronchiolitis are similar in its root though are different illnesses (Gylys & Wedding, 2012). They both affect lungs while they require different approach and treatment. Bronchitis infects bronchial tubes and causes swelling. Bronchiolitis cause wheezing and breach difficulties that occur from the partial blocking of airways to the lungs. In addition, it is not found in adults while bronchitis affects all ages. The prescription is different as well as an
infant with bronchiolitis requires nebulizers while an adult with bronchitis can be treated with antibiotics. The knowledge of the terminological suffixes is crucial as a doctor might prescribe erroneous drugs or underestimate the danger, as bronchiolitis in infants might be lethal.
