NATS Traffic Management Case Study

The main strategic goal of NATS is to become the leading provider of air traffic management services in the world. However, there are a number of challenges that the company may face on the road toward achieving this goal. The business activity of NATS is important because global economy heavily relies on air transportation (Wensveen, 2016). Currently, the global industry of air transportation faces changes and has four phases involvement: survive, adapt, recover and rethink (Wensveen, 2016). Managing the change in the field of ATM is the first major issue that NATS should deal with. That is because the ability to manage changes effectively is the most important component of any transformation. From a change management perspective, it is important to ensure effective leadership that will act as a change agent that sets new goals and objectives for the company in response to the change. The second challenge is a high level of competition. Despite the fact that the company has a strong business image, there is a possibility of the increase in competition because of the change in the way air traffic is managed. That is why the company should pay attention to its competitors and heavily invest financial resources in marketing. The last challenge that NATS will face from a change management perspective is effective adoption to the new method of Air Traffic Control. The adoption will require investing in technologies which will also benefit the competitiveness of the company because the quality of services will increase. The advice that I would give the CEO of the company to help make the change more successful is to concentrate on their customers. Customers can be considered as the most powerful force that contributes to business success. That is why I would propose to increase financing for marketing efforts and implementation of new technologies.
