I. Introduction
The relocation of the office is a big problem for the organization because it dissolves the context of the projects it runs and works at. As the habitual background disappears, the normal workflow requires some time to adjust to the new environment. Moreover, the time expenses of the relocation translate into operational losses, and one assumes numerous risks venturing to change the location, for instance, there is a possibility that the crucial data will be lost or corrupted. The corporate culture also alters during the relocation, as the human resources and operational processes of the organization adjust to the requirements and needs of the change period, and it is difficult to recover things to the previous state of affairs (Walker, Thomas, and Verplanken, 2014). Therefore, international authorities of the project management and certification require the change management to be a project management-enabled because it ensures the sustainability of the change, and helps to assess the influences of positive and negative outcomes (Hornstein, 2016). One may induce that relocation of the office is subjected to the definition of organization change, so project management techniques should be applied.
The specifics of RedAir headquarters’ relocation to the new site have several peculiarities, which make the case difficult and important. First of all, the company has a little of time, and it cannot create the building tailored to the needs of the organization. Then, the company uses a contractor, the real estate agency, which removes the need for the own action planning but emphasizes communication and assessment instead as the contractor “will want to impose their project management process … that can create conflict” (Wysocki, 2011, no pagination). Finally, RedAir has limited resources available for workplace arrangement, which emphasized the importance of careful and well-thought planning of relocation. This report reviews the scope of the project, assesses risks, reveals key personalities and their roles, and established key milestones to elaborate the project of the relocation, revealing the specific features and key recommendations for RedAir company.
