Personal History Statement and Statement of Purpose
Personal History Statement
Throughout my time in high school that I spent in Kuwait, I was highly interested in engineering-related subjects such as mathematics and physics. That is why after finishing the high school in 2009 with GPA of 4 I had a clear understanding of what is the right career for me. The considerable accomplishments at school helped me to receive the international scholarship to study in Australia. I decided to choose Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology because it is the leading higher education institution in the country that specializes in engineering. In 2014 I obtained Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering with a GPA of 3. While studying at the university I developed analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills that I consider to be crucial for being a highly qualified engineer. I managed to improve my skills greatly during a 3 months job training that was required before the graduation from the university. I joined National Aviation Services (NAS) in Kuwait in 2013 and worked as a mechanic on aircraft. I consider this experience to be the main motivation to continue my education because I was completely consumed by the process of carrying out aircraft maintenance. That is why Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) in application to maintenance planning and scheduling was the main focus of my final year project for which I was awarded.
I chose to study Airworthiness Engineering for my Master’s degree where I was analyzing complex engineering assets and developing engineering, scientific and technological solutions to ensure problem-free operations and minimize risks. My Master's research project was entitled “Risk acceptance criteria in application to maintenance management of aerospace systems” for which I was nominated by the course coordinator to represent the university in Airworthiness Engineering program. After I obtained Master's degree at Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology I worked as an Aviation Engineer where I was inspecting the mechanical parts of aircraft both civil and military. This experience has led me to understand that mechanical engineering, particularly rotordynamic, is a very attractive field of knowledge for me. Rotordynamic is directly linked to airplane dynamics and airplane performance analysis that I have been interested in since my first day at the high school. I believe that my passion and the skills that I attained at school and the university will contribute to my success as a Mechanical Engineer.
Statement of Purpose
Mechanical engineering is very important for the airline industry because it affects airline operations. The development and improvement of air transport services completely depend on the ability of engineers to predict critical problems that might occur during a flight. This basically means that the effectiveness of mechanical engineering and particularly rotordynamic should be a priority for every company operating in the industry of air transportation and development. A large number of studies agree that rotordynamic influences the safeness of day-to-day operations and helps to support the working condition of the equipment in the long-term.
