Personal Reflection on Work of Art
Without a doubt, by means of painting, peculiar insights could be implicitly developed in an intricate yet captivating manner. Specifically, with the use of certain tools and recognized techniques, painters might deliver messages that can be interpreted in an infinite number of ways. As the result, meditating over these works might potentially cause the deepest feelings and memories.
At the first sight, the image I chose seems to be quite elementary. However, when reflecting on its meaning more profoundly, it reminds me of my childhood. Here, the bright and saturated colors of the surrounding background and the clothes are perceived alongside with an image of a sad child. Thus, the form contradicts the content. In its turn, this combination makes me ponder of conflicting and ambivalent perception of the childhood. While growing older, I tend to recall the events of my childhood more and more often. Some of the grievous moments are engraved in my memory, and involuntarily I come back to them in my mind. At the same time, in the memory, such events become smoothen, and all the mediocre and daily routines are eventually forgotten or romanticized. As the result, I gain an impression that my childhood days were spent in a different, consistent and carefree environment.
Thus, looking at the chosen picture instantly makes me reflect on the most melancholic of my childhood memories, enframed into the brightest colors of the levity attributed to this period.
