The life in the software developing and engineering career is opening numerous fascinating and breathtaking opportunities due to the overall worldwide trending of information technology-related careers. I have chosen this career as one of my possible lives due to my great interest in Information Technology and because I feel great in my Engineering studies.
My career choice of the software developing and engineering career is based on my great interest in technological progress that is going on in the world. Working as the software engineer in computer sciences is a great opportunity not only to explore closely the human advancement in this area but also bring my own contribution to the overall progress of development of human race. Besides, the programming career opens a wide creative space as working on new software of operation systems allows to choose the own way of creating products. Also, it is very important to note that the programmer’s salary is quite high and is about 100,000 dollars per year. Working not much more than a regular worker in the United States, which is 45 hours a week, compared to 40 standard working hours, is another advantage of the career of software engineer. Such schedule will allow me to stay home and spend more time with my friends and family.
One of the disadvantages of the software engineering career is, perhaps, the constant need in creating something completely new and different. The creativity may disappear over the time, and the overall instability of the developing information technologies area may lead the person to the dead end when he or she cannot create something new. As the need in new software is permanent, such creative block may be a great disadvantage in the career development.
