Abstract
The United States Nation's food and agriculture sector is regarded as the most effective and productive in the world. This sector comprises of various industries located in the US which provide essential commodities in the society. As a critical infrastructure among others, Food and Agriculture has its roles and mandate to attend to, challenges and possible remedies. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mandate is to control and respond disasters, either natural or man-made. DHS acts as the control center for all infrastructures physical or virtual operation systems, assets and also networks to protect the nation against the threats using food and agriculture infrastructure as weapons. This is done to ensure no incapacitation whatsoever; because of the negative impacts, they can pose to the National Public Health and Nations economic security. Dela ru Foods Group of Companies (DFGC) works under Nations foods and agricultural sector with the goal of fulfilling its mandate as obligated by the United States Government.
Roles, Challenges, and Remedies of Food and Agriculture Sector.
The Nations Food and Agriculture sector holds close to one-fifth of the Gross Domestic Product. This is due to the efforts of the firms/organizations under agriculture which take part in the transformation of farm products to the end user. In spite of the fact that food and agriculture sector is almost under private ownership comprising of approximately 200,000 registered food industries, 3.1 million farmers and restaurants, it also works hand in hand with other critical infrastructures (Baker, D 2006). For example. Energy sector - powering agricultural processing and production equipment, Water systems for irrigation, chemical sector for fertilizers and chemicals used in crops and food processing and also transport sector. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has tasked Sector-Specific Agency (SSA) the mandate of controlling food safety and defense in collaboration with Health and Human Services(HHS) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Food and Drug Administration focuses on the safety of food consumed within the United States.
Dela ru Foods Group of Companies are controlled by DHS, USDA,SSA,FDA and other government food controlling agencies is a private company which aims at employment creation, increasing of food security, training farmers, agricultural research, promoting public-private communication, private enterprise support.
