Music is a message that everybody can interpret, and even if one can't understand the language they can still understand the feeling behind the piece. Thus, music is a perfect way to spread the word about the issue of providing the children from orphanages with more abilities.

Detailed Description

Children In Music is a nonprofit organization that aims at providing music education for children in orphanages across the United States. The organization aims to raise awareness of the lack of abilities for children from orphanages and help them in self-affirmation to pursue higher education and achieve success in future life.

The NPO contributes to the development of an informed and empowered citizenry by making art available to every member of the future generation. The project equips its participants with the confidence to invest in their country's future and provide a wider base for a more sustainable and effective development of the USA. The staff members will work on creating a safe and stimulating environment for the children to fell free in and give an opportunity for them to make music and have active discussions on various music-related topics, although with a strong educational and development purposes. These will focus on self-acceptance, violence prevention, no hate speech, etc., and sexuality for older students.

Children In Music will be headquartered in Washington with the space for the staff to gather for trainings and meetings. In addition, several representative offices will be open all across the country, in order to include as much children as possible. Each office will be responsible for providing musical lessons and organizing monthly concerts for the children to perform and show their abilities. Every year a grand concert will take place in Washington and will include most of the children showing on stage what they have learned.

Target Group/Audience

Children In Music gathers children and youth age 3-18 from orphanages from all over America and is open to them regardless of their nationality, religion, etc. The participants of the program are those who show the wish to open their minds, step out of their comfort zone, explore their talents, and unleash creativity. The staff will accept everybody who wants to try music and express themselves through an instrument or the power of their voice. Previous experience, if any, will not make any difference and the main criterion for participation is merely a wish to do so.

Purpose and Rationale

According to 2014 statistical data, 415,129 children in the United States are in foster care ("Children's Statistics - Americas"), so the issue is national. Among these children there is a lot of talented individuals, but since they are in the class of people with fewer opportunities, there are a lot of factors that keep them from fully and sustainably developing. The number of orphans in the US shows the potential for contribution that these children can provide to the American society.
