Study Plan for Sustainable Development Goals in Latin America
My purposed study plan for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Latin America and the Caribbean Region will examine the different issues that are facing the region and how SDGs will benefit the region. My plan of study will help me to adequately prepare to meet my personal goals of understanding SDGs and thus better comprehend the economic and social situation of this region. Since I find the topic of development to be so intriguing, I am looking to pursue further education on the subject and obtain a Master’s degree. My Plan of study would help me to build a strong foundation to continue my educational journey in this captivating subject.
The report released by the United Nation titled ‘Sustainable Development in Latin America’ approaches the subject of SDGs in multiple perspectives and critically examines the implementation of MDGs and how SDGs will tackle the issues that MDGs never addressed.Schedule, Goals and Methodologies
To understand the background of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) , the process of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and how MDGs established the platform for establishing SDGs. To compare and point out the differences among SDGs and MDGs.Methodology: Develop study sheets on MDGs and SDGs. The study sheet will act as a guide on what needs to be covered in the topics.
To examine the history of SDGs and how they came to be. To discuss the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and their targets.Methodology: Prepare a list of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and take notes on the targets of each. List the steps that led to the birth of SDGs in a chronically manner.
To look at the SDGs that are relevant to the Latin America and Caribbean region. To discuss the two goals of SDGs- Goal 1 (End of Poverty in all its forms everywhere) and Goal 6 (Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all).Methodology: Research on the internet on the SDGs that are of relevance to the Latin American and Caribbean region. Take notes on Goal 1 and Goal 2.
To critically examine the financing mechanisms for Latin American countries in the achievement of SDGs. To look at how Paraguay, Bolivia and other poor countries will achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).Methodology: Research and develop a list of possible financing solutions to Latin American countries for the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
To discuss the role of the private sector in the achievement of Sustainable development Goals (SDGs). To analyze the situation in the Latin America and Caribbean region and give recommendations on how to remedy the situation.Methodology: Outline the key elements and write a summary on the topic.
