The Culture of Communication Under the Influence of Technology
In today modern world the development of technology is considered as something necessary and inevitable. It is hard to imagine that 10 years ago we had not many of the opportunities that we have at the present moment. The introduction of technology into our culture happened very fast and changed it thoroughly. Every person has specific aspects of their own culture subjected to changes under the influence of the development of technology, thus changing the world view and the perception of cultural values.
Personally I have noticed some change in definite moment of my culture. This aspect is connected with the communication and new opportunities that technology gave to us. Mobile and smart phones, chats, social networks, and different mobile applications help people to be in touch with each other always in spite of time and place. It is obvious that many of us have chance to have many friends, and, from the one hand, the social side of our life is developed for better. However, despite a positive aspect of technology’s introduction into our culture, there is a negative side connected with as a lack of personal communication, which helps not only understanding the ideas and thoughts of interlocutors, but also seeing their emotions and mood.
Technology deprives us the culture of communication, and there is its big disadvantage. An absence of emotions during the conversation gives many opportunities to deceit and insincerity. Changing emotions by emoticons from applications, we make interlocutors believing whatever we want. People stopped expressing happiness, sadness, anger, interest, and many other feelings, changing them by pixel images.
