The effects of TV adverts on children
Children are the ideal audience for advertisers. Criticalness to advertising at this age is quite insignificant, so the child desires and believes in everything he sees. Children are characterized by high emotionality and high response to positive bright advertising symbols. They self-forgetfully humming adherent advertising melodies, repeat words and phrases and do not get tired of watching an advertisement hundreds of times. The naive kid will seriously wait for a rabbit to jump out of a jar of a chocolate drink and take him on a trip; or a good old man to come out of a pack of tea and have a nice conversation with him.
Advertising strongly affects the child's psyche and abuses children's emotions. The main function of television advertising is to prepare children for their main ‘life profession’ - to be consumers. Due to the age specific development of children, the greatest impact on them is represented by psychological infection (the result of influence on the emotional well being of a person), imitation (the appropriation of the seen patterns of behavior) and persuasion. At the same time, from the point of view of psychological protection, children, by virtue of their age difference, are not able to withstand the impact of television advertising, using their own attitudes and views.
The importance of considering this topic is to prove the influence of advertising campaigns on children, since the methods used have a psychological, emotional and intellectual impact on the children. Advertising affects the child's psyche, imposes non-existent needs, and affects the formation of tastes.
