The Research Process in Healthcare and Nursing
One of the major provisions of the health care system is the assertion that the main function of medical science is the creation of an adequate scientific basis for practical public health activities. The world practice shows that the efficient and purposeful use of scientific advances in medicine is essential for the development of an effective health system. It can improve the health of the population, increase the length and quality of people's lives.
There were many attempts to define the stages of research and to establish the optimal sequence of them working on a particular chosen theme. Analyzing the works of many authors, based on their long-term
experience, the most appropriate and reasonable idea would be to allocate the following basic stages of research work. ”Research should be conducted in a systematic manner, allowing the researcher to progress from a general idea or clinical problem to scientifically rigorous research findings that enable new developments to improve clinical practice”(Gelling, 2015, p.44).
The choice of research topics and the definition of the problem is based on determining the extent of the problem of knowledge, chosen as the object of the forthcoming study, evaluating the real possibilities of its solution
and requiring a clear understanding the goals and objectives of the research work.
Another important part deals with the outline of the study, which should be the basic stage of research and development and contain the selected research methods. Maybe of greater importance is the prospect
qualitative study can advise concerning the practice of people and groups with health difficulties (Howlett et al., 2014). The collection, grouping and preliminary study of the chosen materials. ”Rather than having clinicians submersed in the volume of research reports, a more efficient approach is for the clinician to access a summary of all that is known on the topic” (Stevens, 2013). This phase includes the collection and study of literature, planned research (observations) using the chosen methods of data processing.
Analysis of the collected data. This stage, considered the most responsible in the scientific work, usually combines targeted grouping and comparison of data, identifying dependencies, critical assessment, summing
up the work done in the form of specific conclusions logically derived from the received results. Quantitative research in this phase endeavors to build up exceptional connections, addresses inquiries by measuring and
depicting, depends on target estimation and perception, and is concerned with connection and causation (Ingham-Broomfield, 2014).
