What is Psychology
Psychology is a field of study that pursues the understand human beings, how they relate to each other, their environment and themselves. It helps an individual understand first and foremost, themselves, and others around them by understanding thoughts and behavior. Psychology helps people forge working relationships and maintain this relationship by understanding how their reactions both conscious and unconscious affect others. It not only seeks to understand people as individuals but also how they interact in a group setting. As a science, just like any other scientific endeavor, psychology aims at exploring further the understanding of human beings and sometimes animals. By studying the patterns, they present and how they relate to their environment. As a practiced profession, psychology seeks to improve the well-being of human beings. After understanding, a psychologist can use this knowledge to improve his or her life and the lives of those within his environment. With various branches, psychology covers every aspect of a person’s life; it therefore helps one gain knowledge on human behavior. The understanding of human behavior is achieved through learning the causes of different behavior and the consequences of said behavior with this; human behavior can be manipulated.
The definitions provided by other people are more or less the same; every person gives a general idea of what psychology is, and the thought process lingers around the same ideology. One of the definitions is that psychology is the study of the human psyche, another the study of how the human mind processes the day to day thoughts, feelings, and stressors.
