In the recent past, the fashion industry has experienced a lot of changes. It has become more fast-paced, more technology savvy and more user oriented. There is a shift away from the traditional approaches that fashion practitioners have been using to communicating, disseminating and displaying fashion concepts, most notably the fashion runway. Fashion practitioners have come up with other ways that are more appropriate and effective. Dion Lee is an Australian fashion designer that is literary balancing the weight of the entire Australian fashion industry in his hands (Vogue, 2017). His fast rise in the fashion industry, coupled with his sharp eye for details have made him to stand out in the fashion world (BOF, 2017). This makes him a good example to use since he has continuously re-invented himself in order to resonate with his clients. On the international level, we shall focus on Calvin Klein who has been in the fashion industry for decade. However, he continues to be very popular in the fashion world because he continually finds out what the customers want. He has also been consistent in coming up with new ways of doing things and reaching to the target customers.
Dion Lee has become inspired by various things in his construction of quality clothing. He draws from traditional techniques of tailoring techniques that have been creatively merged into experimental treatments. This has resulted in the creation of innovative garments that are highly adaptable, efficient and trendy (Hume, 2016). The designer has in the past done a lot in designing of women’s designer jackets and discerning party girl clothes for the famous inventive cocktail frocks. Lee first featured in the limelight in 2009 when one of his creations was worn by a model on a major magazine. In 2010, he won the L’Oreal fashion Design Award. He was also crowned the International Woolmark Prize for the Australian region back in July 2012 (Smith, 2013). From that time, the designer has worked hard to deliver concise, innovative and trendy womenswear.
Lee has started displaying less of his designs on the run way and is relying on more digital methods to reach as many people as possible within the shortest time and with the lowest cost attached to it (Watkins, 2017). The internet is a very powerful tool in the modern times. It helps to reach more people than traditional methods of disseminating information and new designs. Lee has capitalized in the usage of social media such as Facebook and Twitter in letting customers to know the new products that are coming up, thus attracting new customers and retaining the existing ones (BOF, 2017).
