ESFJ Personality
Introduction
An assessment of my personality using the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator showed that I have the ESFJ (Extraversion, Sensing, Feeling, and Judging) personality. Generally, people with the ESFJ personality are highly sociable, enjoy supporting those close to them, enjoy organizing social gatherings, and do their best to ensure that everyone is comfortable and happy (16Personalities, 2016). ESFJs are altruistic in nature, and see it as their duty to help and do the right thing. They also value the wisdom of leadership, and are likely to derive their moral obligations from established rules and traditions as opposed to philosophy or mysticism. However, most people with this personality type rarely acknowledge that people come from different backgrounds and perspectives, and what they may regard as right may not always be the absolute truth (16Personalities, 2016).According to 16Personalities (2016), ESFJs enjoy being of service to others, and love any role that allows them to participate in a meaningful way just as long as they are valued and appreciated. Additionally, they also maintain a high respect for hierarchy, and do their best to position themselves with some kind of authority, whether at home or at work.
Their respect to authority and hierarchy allows them to keep things clear, organized and stable for everyone. In addition, ESFJs enjoy getting involved in the lives of people close to them, and are always ready to talk things out in a warm and sensitive way. Due to their conflict-averse nature, ESFJs usually focus on establishing a social order, and prefer planned and organized activities (16Personalities, 2016).The aim of this paper is to explore the career that I am interesting in pursuing right now, and how my strengths and interests are related to my career of choice. The following sections will cover the strengths and weaknesses of ESFJs like myself, and career options that are likely to suit people with the ESFJ personality.
Strengths of ESFJs
ESFJs have got various strengths that arise from their nature to take care of others around them and avert conflict as much as possible. To begin with, ESFJs are very loyal. Since they value stability and security, they are usually eager to preserve the status quo, making them very loyal employees and partners (16Personalities, 2016).
Their exceptional loyalty makes them important people in any group they belong to, and they can always be relied upon. ESFJs are also very sensitive and warm. They are likely to seek the stability of a group by maintaining harmony and caring about peoples’ feelings, taking care not to offend or hurt anybody. As such, they are great team players and strongly believe in win-win situations.ESFJs also demonstrate strong practical skills.
