Industry/Career/Position Section: Healthcare Manager
The industry I wish to enter with my career plan of becoming a Healthcare Manager is the healthcare industry. The industry is one of the most important service industries in the modern world, providing observation of health, diagnosis of potential diseases, treatment of symptoms and causes, rehabilitation as well as preventive advice and examination of patients (Langabeer, 2008). According to Santili and Vogenberg (2015), healthcare industry will continue to grow, making it one of the most prolific job providers in the US. More specifically, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics (2016), the demand for healthcare managers will increase for 22 % by 2020.
The reason why I wish to enter the healthcare industry is because it is oriented towards helping people. I enjoy face-to- face communication and service industry is the best way to enjoy human interaction as well as personal growth and satisfaction for providing valuable service that actually has the ability to change people`s lives.
One of the expected positive trends in the industry is the proliferation of technological devices that will ease the work of physicians, as well as increase the final outcomes for the patients (Santili & Vogenberg, 2015). Additionally, focusing on patient- centered care will not only improve the overall endeavors of the healthcare industry towards their customers, but also provide more job opportunities in the field of managing and human resources. However, technological solutions for improving healthcare will create an urgent need for data storage and management (Santili & Vogenberg, 2015). Big data managing systems are currently still under development and can be viewed as a substantial financial undertaking. Additionally, according to the report by Earnest & Young (2014), despite increased amount of money spent, the quality of healthcare services in the US is not improving. This will likely result in diminished finances for the healthcare sector, since increased government spending did not result in any significant improvement, impacting the quality of care as well as the amount of job opportunities on the market.
Career Path Section
My expected career path to attain the desired position of a Healthcare manager is to successfully finish my current studies, and succeed in applying for a Bachelor`s degree in Healthcare Management. After successful completion of my degree, I will be eligible to look for employment in the desired industry.
To advance my career path, it is advisable to compliment the central education with two additional features. First will be the search for a meaningful internship which will enable me to increase my practical knowledge of the field, as well as my chances for being an eligible candidate for the job after I finish my studies. Additionally, I plan on obtaining Medical Billing and Coding Certificate which will deepen my knowledge on the way services, provided by the healthcare sector are financially reimbursed by the patients.
