Law Enforcement Officer Profession
Nowadays, a profession of a law enforcement officer is one of the most responsible and at the same time stressful. As Stevens (2007) indicates, “law enforcement is a complex profession because it and the populations policed by them are always changing”. In this context, law enforcement support groups seem to be an inevitable part of modern police system since they provide a wide range of services aimed at improving the confidence of police. One of such groups is National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. Therefore, it is to be proven that NLEOMF provides a great support for the law enforcement system in the form of spreading information in order to increase law enforcement safety and regular conducting the memorable events in honor of those who have died in the line of duty.
National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund is considered to provide a kind of mental and emotional support for the police officers rather than organizational or technical issues and that is its main significance as a supporter figure. This fund is located in Washington, D.C. The building of NLEOMF is nothing but “the nation’s monument to law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty” (The memorial, n.d.). Speaking about how this organization supports the law enforcement system, it systematically runs a variety of events “to raise awareness and honor America's law enforcement officers” (Law enforcement appreciation events, n.d.). This is the way in which the people throughout the US gets truthful information about the police activity and the problems they are faced with. Additionally, this organization is responsible for conducting a National Police Week. Its primary goal is to honor America’s law enforcement community and to show one’s appreciation.
To sum up, the organizations like NLEOMF are necessary since they are able to keep the society informed about the police activity as it is and motivate the people to value the huge efforts of the police officers.
