Managing and Coordinating The Human Resources Function
People are the most important resource within the organization and at the same time is significantly unpredictable resource, comparing to finance or technology. The rational and emotional characteristics of the workforce make human resources the unique value of the organization (Amberg & McGaughey 10). As a consequence, it is very important for the success of the organization to manage the human resources effectively in order to match them with strategic goals of the organization and to satisfy the personal goals of the employees. CIPD Profession Map evaluates HR professional according to this competencies and covers the full set of capabilities that HR practitioner has to master in order to become professional (CIPD). The focus of HR is shifted towards the development of professional practices required for the organization’s success in current period and its future effective growth. The Map seeks to do this by examining what HR people do and what they deliver across every aspect and specialism of the HR profession. The professional areas identified within the Map include: leading and management of the human resource function, development of the strategic solutions for the effectiveness of the HR function within the organization, organizational design and development, talent planning and development, performance and reward, employee engagement and employee relations (CIPD), as well as service delivery of the HRM.
The aim of this paper is to describe the key characteristics of the modern HR functions, provide evidence of the application of HR objectives in the practical work of the organizations and define the contribution of HRM to organization’s success. The role of the modern HRM is to help organization to develop certain capabilities required for the success at the marketplace and effective HR practices constantly correlative with positive organizational outcome.
HR Function and Organizational Objectives
According to the CIPD Map HR Professional is the person who has required knowledge, skills and behavior required for the movement of the organization’s workforce in the strategic direction of the company’s development. HR professional is the person who is flexible and the one who understands that HR rules and career progressions vary (CIPD). Finally, HR functions add sustainable value to the organization in both now and in the future through the ongoing development and support of the workforce. In fact, the objective of HR in the organization is to promote the ongoing improvement of the workforce, the effective management of people at work and the development of their sustainable capabilities for the future success of the organization.
The objective of the modern HR function is to develop the corporate culture within organizations focused on cooperation, communication, oriented towards mutual benefit, generation of the strategic results, objectivity, reliability, strong motivation and completeness (Madhani 24).
