Overview of Operations

Indigo Valley Nursery will operate on Sunday to Thursday from 7:00am-6:00pm (IndigoValleyNursery.com 2011). The hours are flexible to the lifestyle of their customers. Nursery times may vary in terms of the child’s convenient time for availability. Nursery registrations have the availability to choose between three and five days.

Operating Cycle

Indigo Valley Nursery has three operating cycles: Winter Holiday Program, Spring Holiday Program, and Summer Holiday Program (IndigoValleyNursery.com 2011). Term One will start on September, Term Two on January, and Term Three on April. There will also be a preset date for parents and children to meet the staff.

Geographic Locations

The geographic location for Indigo Valley Nursery is at Al Twar 2 area, close to Airport Terminal 2 and Dubai Airport Free Zone.

Current and Planned Facilities and Improvements

The current facilities include an indoor area, an outdoor area, and bathroom and kitchen facilities. There are twelve colorful open-plan classrooms, a large indoor play area, a small World and Discovery and Exploration area. The facilities are equipped with music and multi-function rooms with a great variety of children’s musical instruments. Some classrooms have computers connected to wireless internet. The facilities also include a homely children's library and a Learning Support Unit with light and sound sensory. The outdoor area, has beautiful gardens with in-built sand pit, covered swimming pool, tennis court, and a “Teletubby Hill.” Plans for improvement for the bathroom facilities include incorporating sensory taps and low-level basins and toilets. The dining room facilities also boasts of a five-star commercial quality kitchen.

Regulatory and Legal Issues

Indigo Valley Nursery is registered as a Limited Liability Company, offering child care and nursery services. It has gained the necessary permits and passed all the regulatory requirements for operation. Rules and regulations are in accordance with the Directives of the Director of Child Department of the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Social Affairs.

Business Processes

The day-to-day business at Indigo Valley Nursery are mostly handled by the administration and teaching staff. They provide the services that keep the business running and fully operational. The business processes included but are not limited to the production of proper class materials and the regulation of standards set by the Government of Dubai’s regulatory board.

Make-or-buy Policy

All classroom people taught to the children are under the British Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum. Materials for teaching may be both made or bought by the instructors depending on the needs of the students. As much as possible, the learning needs of the students are given full priority when producing class material.

Class instructors have to be from Dubai or are already within the UAE. They need to acquire the specific skills and teaching permits in order to successfully work for Indigo Valley Nursery.
