Personal Anticipated Objectives
I decided to take this course in order to learn more about different cultures and nationalities, especially those within the territory of the United States of America, also known as the Great Melting Pot of different cultures and languages. Moreover, I would like to know more about the lifestyles of various nationalities, with the emphasis on their values and beliefs. I strongly believe that Americans, whose ancestors came to this land several generations ago, still have the cultural identity of their origin, which distinguishes them from others. They still carry a piece of their culture, regardless how hard they try to become Americans or of other nationality.
Also, I would like to find out more about the minorities, in particular people of transgender. I have respect for such people, who are strong enough to open up and change their sex, especially while this question rises much controversy in public in many countries. It is noteworthy that although most of transgender people are born males, we do not here a lot about females changing their sex; the difference between transgender culture and those of traditional orientation is also of interest. I tend to believe that maybe such people are the chosen ones among regular traditional orientation people as I am. We would never know how it is to be born in a wrong body, or maybe there is no wrong body?
I have four specific objectives I want to accomplish during this course. The first one is how to resolve some social issues between different nationalities. I do understand that if it would be easy, there would not be no conflicts at all. However, I strongly believe that there are always some ways to ease tensions in any conflict, and conflict between different nationalities is not an exception. Secondly, I want to learn, how to behave with people that have been discriminated on racial grounds before. Sometimes being white puts me in uncomfortable situation. I feel that some nonwhite people that were discriminated before experience hatred to others. I can put myself in there shoes, but I do not know how to act. Thus, the question of my concern is how to show them that I am not a racist, and at the same time not to make them feel petty. The third concern is how to be a leader in a multinational group and how to make multinational people that work for you be all happy and satisfied, for example: How to act when you need to promote a best person from your team without making people feel that you picked him or her on racial basis. To this I can relate the question, How to motivate people of deferent cultures. I am pretty sure what motivates me does not motivate other people regardless race, gender and etc, as we are all different.
The fourth question I would like to have an answer after finishing the course is whether …
