Personal Statement Application Questions
Question 1: If you could travel to anywhere in the world where would you go and why would you go there?
As an international student, I have some background in traveling. There are many countries in the world worth visiting, which makes traveling an important part of my life. Every country brings new challenges and has something to teach us. It is hard to pick just one country among all of the great places, but when I think of it – the first one that comes to mind is Italy. Everybody wants to visit Italy one day, because it is a place where modern world started to develop, beginning with the dawn of the Roman Empire. It`s a place of culture and beauty. I enjoy learning something new and different, that’s why Italy is a perfect place for experiencing some of the greatest feelings. Every house and building there is a place for research and a display of true architectural masterpiece. Another important thing about Italy is people. Italians are known for their expressive temper, generosity, and hospitality. I really would like to feel the difference in the way they look at the world and how they feel about it.
Question 2: Tell us about a time when you changed your mind about something and the sudden impact of your decision.
Changing the mind about something is often a result of gaining experience because we form our point of view on some things by having just a little glance at them, without trying to get more familiar. The most common case is a first personal impression of another person which is wrong on many occasions. (Nevid, 2015)The same thing happened to me when I first met many people. There was one man who was an object of my disaffection. At that time I didn`t contact him personally and my impression of him was formed just by social networks and internet. But one day I had an opportunity to meet and chat with him face to face and surprisingly to me he was one of the nicest people I`ve ever met. By talking to him I found some qualities I consider to possess myself, like being quick with making decisions, knowledge of a leadership, positive attitude to life and sincerity. He turned my point of view not just applying to him but generally to everything that has only skin-deep experience from my side.
