Reflection on Urban II and King Henry VIII

I realize that Urban II is more of comparing to King Henry VIII. There are several things Urban II did unlike Henry VIII. Urban II protected mostly of his ruling, establishing his authority as a legitimate pope and attempting to reconcile with church-state traditions. King Henry VIII used more of his power by declaring himself as the supreme head in the Earth of the Church of England.

The declaration of King Henry VIII led to the separation of Christian Church of England and revelation against the king’s changes. The changes from the king made him a failure to his people. Urban II never faced much of opposition from his people due to active support from his policies and reforms among the several groups because of his mentality and interest he knew.Urban II succeeded in most of his changes that he came up with; important church councils took place where reform legislation was enacted and also the preaching of his first crusade in 1095 at the Clermont (Diana). Although Henry VIII significantly took part in improving English sea power and also instating an efficient navy, and also introducing the first legislations against homosexual with the burglary act that had urge penalties, he was a polygamist having married six wives Despite King Henry VIII was taking up permissions by himself and not involving anyone, for example, not taking authority on matters of Church of England leading to losing his trust from the Pope (G W).

Urban seek more of advice from people around him and use much of Pope Gregory VI philosophy. The advice that Urban II got from people made him flexible and diplomatic finesse. In conclusion, I feel that Henry VIII inability to control and make right decision led to him being less superior than Urban II, who used more of his diplomatic in ruling, and making a decision that shows he was bigger than Henry VIII.
