Values of the Health Care Organization

The values and the ethical constituent play a very important and fundamental part in the system of the healthcare organizations. It is the vision, the mission shared between all the parties involved, the core values observed, the ethical leadership and the culture. The attention to the core values should be no less than the attention offered for different operational moments. The role of the strategists is in making the organizational decisions. In this complex structure of measures, the values present the same principles for both the managers, employees and all members of the staff that should always be observed and no compromise is allowed. Yet, the healthcare strategists and analytics should follow the rule of the heart, the mind and the gut feeling or the collective experience and the intuition of the organization.

It is important to be critical with a fair degree of analysis and judgement in the process. The governing boards along with the strategists present the group of importance that plays its part in the determining of the core values and defining the strategic directions. The work of the governing boards is especially important in dealing with the values and the ethical matters. The boards of directors and the trustees hold the responsibility for the elements of the system, including the values. It makes the work, evaluation, interviewing and analysis of the board members a very important task for the strategists in their efforts to make a right strategic decision of the critical importance. Strategic planning should be seen as the process of a logical kind. It is important to engage as many groups as possible in the process of the values development and analysis.

According to the research and the studies done by Karnieli-Miller, O., Taylor, A. C., Inui, T. S., Ivy, S. S., & Frankel, R. M. (2011), "When team members taught each other, cared about one another, and pulled together in times of need, they felt fulfilled and that they belonged to a community of practice."

The values that should be shared by all the healthcare organizations include the care and compassion for every living being, the appreciation and respect for each other, the work as a team and the benefits of the collective efforts, focus on discipline and on improvement of the healthcare quality, honesty in all what is being done, integrity, openness to innovation and development of the most efficient solutions. The values are aimed at everyone and their mission is to tell the employees, all of the staff members, stakeholders, analytics and the patients of how organization operates. Values act as a powerful force of motivational nature.
