The company was established in 1930 as a result of merging the Margarine Unie (a margarine manufacturing firm) and the Lever Brother – a soap producing firm. Since then the firm has diversified not only its market but also its products. Currently, the firm specializes in the production of four hundred brands that include beverages, foods, and even personal care products. It is estimated that the firm has at least 179000 employees within the 190 countries it operates from. The increased performance of the firm has been accrued to its strict monitoring and evaluation policies, which are employed to ensure that its development projects remain on course.
