Cyber Espionage

Cyber espionage is becoming a significant economic threat to most US Corporation. Companies are losing valuable data and intellectual properties to the hacker. As result of this practice, businesses are losing their competitive edge in the global market which has translated to massive losses. This term paper tackles some of the key issues in this cyber warfare.

Intellectual properties, trade secrets, and military secrets are some of the information cyber espionage groups are stealing from the US. The groups are using the information to have the upper hand and reduce the competitive edge of the US Corporations. They are re-engineering intellectual properties and using the trade secret to have the upper hand in the business world. According to Gen. Michael, he refers cyber espionage as stealing of American jobs, wealth and competitive advantage. The Chinese have coveted the US military system, this one of the reasons they are stealing the military secrets.

Circumstantial evidence pin point to China as the perpetrator of this war. When Nortel was hacked, forensic evidence identified and IP address from Shanghai. Internet activities of the CEO also indicated traffic from Beijing when performing a Yahoo session. When RSA was hacked in 2011, the evidence pointed to Asia. The evidence available is believable. However, the Chinese government has distanced itself from these allegations which have been by the US.
