Developing an Ideal Healthcare System for a New Country
Healthcare is one of the key aspects of a well-functioning society particularly in the 21st century. The current social dispensation has been defined by various issues such as declining health outcomes. As a result, governments in various jurisdictions are expanding the healthcare landscape as a pathway of enhancing community health. In light of this, there are specific parameters that define proper health systems. Essentially, the parameters or factors interface to create the required functionality. Some of the factors include technology, professionals and infrastructure (Carayon, 2011). This paper presents an ideal healthcare system for a new country based on ten key factors.
Healthcare Professionals
Healthcare professionals are a primary factor in healthcare systems. They are the individuals that provide healthcare labor. The professionals, employed by health institutions have the medical capacity to provide services such as medicine, dentistry, nursing and medicine (Arditi, Rège-Walther, Wyatt, Durieux & Burnand, 2011). For instance, a surgical practitioner is a healthcare professional who specializes in the provision of perioperative care such as anesthetics, surgical and recovery stages. This service will be delivered as follows; the new healthcare system in the target country should hire healthcare specialists in all fields. They should also be stationed in all healthcare facilities and should equally be given a guiding framework which will act as points of reference. More specifically, once patients visit the facilities, the professionals should conduct preliminary tests such as lab tests which will be subjected to diagnosis tools to establish what the particular patient is suffering from (McSherry & Pearce, 2011). Thereafter, the professional should provide the most appropriate advice and prescription and advice on future follow-up. However, the healthcare professional must be provided with proper facilities and supplies for effectiveness.
Facilities and Supplies
The facilities and supplies provide the physical aspects in healthcare. The facility aspect centers on physical infrastructure such as buildings, medical equipment and structures through which professionals channel their services (Arvand, Jungkind & Hack, 2011). Additionally, the ‘supplies’ aspect relates to products and services that hasten treatment of diseases. For instance, drugs and apparatus such as microscope qualify to be supplies. This service will be provided through the purchase or leasing of the above items. The facilities should be designed and built in an easily accessible area through the medical equipment and supplies can be stored. In particular, the facilities should be set to serve a certain number of patients while the supplies can be sourced from international accredited organizations such as the USMED. The health professionals will be expected to identify and diagnose conditions upon which they should use the right medical facility and drugs for treatment (Witter, Khadka, Nath, & Tiwari, 2011). As technology is the paradigm shift, some of the facilities and supply chains have been interfaced with a sense of technology to enhance functionality.
Technology
Technology has varied meanings but in essence, it may denote the scientific application of knowledge to solve practical problems and …
