Diet, Nutrition, and General Health Journal Assessment
This is the third journal I am writing on the topic of my diet, nutrition, and general health, and, considering that the first two were mostly failures because I did not get any closer to my initial goal, I hope that this one would have a bigger profit. I would like to remind that my biggest problem is still the fact that I am overweight. My goal is to lose weight by balancing my diet and engaging myself in the bigger number of physically active exercises. I would like to do so not only to be thinner and look more attractive but also because I care about my health. My parents and grandparents have issues with their health, and if I am overweight, I am more likely to have these issues, too.
Before the first assessment and during the second one, my weight did not change and was 169 lbs. At the same time, my BMI was 28.1, and never changed as well. However, my goal was to lower my BMI to 24.9, which would be considered a normal index for my height and weight. Thus, after the two times I failed in my attempts to lose weight because I did not try hard enough, I decided that this time I would not repeat this mistake and try as hard as I can to stick to my plan of diet and trainings.
First of all, I decided to create a balanced diet for myself. My overweight has several reasons, and one of them is the fact that I have a tendency to eat late in the evening, while I know that it is totally unhealthy to eat less than 2 hours before going to sleep. The other reason I weight more than I would wish to is that my diet is unbalanced (I do not eat enough fruit, for instance) and that I eat too much fried food.
While creating my new healthy diet, I divided the total number of calories I eat to 5 portions, as I read that eating more times per day but in smaller portions helps to lose weight. I increased my intake of fruit, such as apples and oranges, because they do not contain too much sugar but instead they are full with helpful vitamins, such as vitamin C. I also decreased the amount of fried food I eat because oil has too much cholesterol, which is really bad for the health, as it creates problems with the heart and blood system. I decreased the amount of bread I eat to one piece per day. Moreover, I started writing down all the food I eat per day and then calculating the calories that this food contains. It helps me realize how much energy I receive, and what I should do to get rid of the part of it which would later turn into the body fat of which I am trying to get rid.
Speaking of beverages, I stopped drinking …
