Medical Terminology Assignment: Biceps Tendonitis

The patient has biceps tendonitis (inflammation process involving the long head of the biceps tendon and its sheath within the biceps groove), secondary to pathological condition such as rotator cuff disease (Ferri, 2014). Arthroscopy presents as the choicest procedure to diagnose the disorder. Other procedures include computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The patient has carpal tunnel syndrome (a comprehensive neuropathy of the median nerve while its passage under the transverse carpal ligament of the wrist), perhaps due to increased intracarpal tunnel pressure (Ferri, 2015). Three tests that would help in the diagnosis of the condition include musculoskeletal ultrasound, MRI, and nerve velocity conduction tests (Ferri). The patient has osteoporosis (skeletal disease characterized by low bone mass and structural deteriorations of the bone tissue), probably due to age-related bone loss and decreased viability of the osteocytes (Bope & Kellerman, 2015).

The patient has osteoarthritis (degenerative disease which results from the breakdown of joint cartilage and underlying bone), perhaps due to previous joint injury. The patient has fibromyalgia (disorder characterized by chronic widespread pain related to central sensitization), perhaps due to psychosocial and neuroendocrine factors that moderate the expression of its symptoms (Ferri, 2015). The patient has a bone fracture (break in the bone), perhaps due to trauma. The patient has epicondylitis (inflammation of the myotendinous junction of the common extensors at the lateral epicondyle or the flexor pronator group at the medial epicondyle of the elbow, and is perhaps secondary to chronic tendiniosis (Ferri). The patient has spondylitis (inflammation of the vertebrae), perhaps due to genetic factors such as HLA-B27 (Ferri). The patient has chondritis (inflammation of the cartilage), perhaps due to bacterial invasion of the cartilage. The patient has chondrosarcoma (malignant tumor arising from the cartilage), which probably secondarily from transformation of a benign osteocartilaginous exostosis (Ferri, 2014).

The patient has gastritis (inflammation of the stomach), probably due to bacterial (Helicobacter pylori) infection. The diagnostic procedures used to diagnose the condition include the urea breath test, the stool antigen test, histologic evaluation of endoscopic biopsy samples (Ferri, 2015). The patient has celiac disease (disease characterized by damaged mucosa of the small intestine due to activation of the mucosal immune system by ingestion of gluten), perhaps due to genetic predisposition (Bope & Kellerman, 2015). The patient has cholera (bacterial infection due to the bacterium Vibrio cholerae), probably due to contamination through fecal-oral route. The patient has ulcerative cholitis (chronic inflammatory bowel disease resulting in the ulcers of the colon and rectum), perhaps due to genetics and immune system dysfunction. The patient has acute pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas), probably due to gall stones.

The patient has duodenitis (inflammation of the duodenum), perhaps due to a bacterial infection. The patient has hemorrhoid (varicose dilation of a vein of the superior or inferior hemorrhoidal plexus, leading to persistent raise in the venous pressure), perhaps due to prolonged sitting (Ferri, 2015). The patient has irritable bowel syndrome (chronic functional disorder characterized by altered bowel habits, recurrent abdominal pain, and …
