Personal Statement in International Law
I believe that the International Commercial Law course at Salford would provide me with the opportunity for advanced learning in international commercial law, especially, in contract law and negotiation. For this reason, I am very motivated and excited to take this course. In 2015 I graduated back from the University of Kingston with a 2:2 grade. I have chosen the field of international law because I am interested in contract law and how contracts work in the legal field.
I would like to outline that the TV-show “Judge Judy” has inspired me to do my bachelor in law, as it demonstrated how justice is provided and how the provisions of law are actually applied to the everyday life and to the situations that appear on daily basis. Moreover, I have watched other series related to justice and law, such as “Law and Order” and “Suits”, which inspired me as well.
Currently, I am working in a law office and I do have a wide experience in courts dealing with various fields of law, such as commercial law, civil law, employment law and labour law. I believe that global world is all about trading goods and services from one country to another and under these circumstances setting a perfect contract is a crucial factor to have a good ending deal. I think that contract should be mutually beneficial for all parties, protecting their rights and interests. For this reason, commercial law is the field that I have enjoyed the most in litigation. I operate with a wide set of transferable skills, being able to work efficiently both in team and independently. I have advanced leadership, problem-solving, and organisational skills which I have developed from my work experience and previous study.
I believe that I meet the selection criteria to take this course, and I am wishing to build upon my knowledge and expertise in the fields of the sale of goods, intellectual property, corporate governance and law, and to get advanced skills in contract law and negotiation.
