Police Officers Stress

There are many different techniques to reduce the stress that play a significant role in every profession, especially in work of law enforcement agents. Crisis situations are very dangerous because they can even result in murder or suicide of an individual (Stevens, 2008). Therefore, techniques that help to reduce stress include the presence of effective communication and encouragement by other people which may be successfully applied to the police professionals.

Effective communication between police officers is vital to improve the performance and reduce stress. Communication contributes to the coordination of tasks, allows exchanging information, and provides an opportunity to solve problems together within the team. If all law enforcement officials are engaged in effective teamwork and communication, then the stress experienced by one of them will hardly lead to fatal consequences (Stevens, 2008). The main reason that communication helps one to reduce stress and find a solution faster than when acting alone (Stevens, 2008). Consequently, communication between police officers not only contributes to stress reduction but also enhances the professionalism and job performance.

When an individual experiences stress, encouragement usually helps to motivate him/her and raise his/her spirit. The authorities should show law enforcement officers that their work is appreciated and is very important for the whole team and the public safety as well (Stevens, 2008). To reduce stress, police officers have to feel themselves demanded at work and among people. Besides, law enforcement officials should have time for proper nutrition, physical load and acceptable yields outside agency for pent-up emotions (Stevens, 2008). Thus, it will motivate them for further work, raise the spirit and help cope with stress faster.

In conclusion, effective communication and the encouragement are some of the techniques of stress reduction that also apply to law enforcement personnel. They not only motivate police officers and raise their spirits but also reduce stress faster and more efficiently. Thus, the implementation of these two techniques is paramount in the work of the police.
