Project Management: Building Red Bull Playground
Building of the Red Bull Snowboarding Playground is the aim of the project and is to be realized in compliance with the project management plan including the Project Scope, Project Priorities, and Work Breakdown Structure.
Project Scope
Project Objective
To build the playground with 15 different trails and obstacles for the snowboarding competition on the territory of the abandoned resort in the Canadian mountains and to conduct the respective competitions on it. The playground is to be built following the example of the “Perfect Playground” constructed in Slovenian heights of the sunny side of the Alps (Krajnik).
Deliverables
The design of the snowboarding playground;
A 2000-square-meters playground with multiple rides and trails designed for the snowboarding competitions;
Holding of the competition on 5th of April.

Since construction of the playgrounds for the competitions sponsored by Red Bull has always been a complicated though extremely interesting task with unusual and unprecedented ideas on the places of the rides’ installation as well as on their form and intended purpose, the technical requirements for the playground as the place for competition holding are as follows:
Compliance to the local regulations on the construction works and the soil exploration;
Five snow rides;
Five big airs;
Five tracks through the old buildings and other on-site facilities remained and used as the obstacles on the main snowboarding track;
Structures must pass seismic stability codes.
Limits and exclusions
Site works limited to Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 6:00 pm;
The deadlines are set in advance and cannot be extended.
Customer Review
Project Manager and Project Team;
Snowboarders participating in the competition (Fabio Studer, JF Houle and others).
Project Priorities
Since the quality of the project carrying out depends on three main components, namely time of the playground’s building, cost of the project, and the performance that is prospected to be achieved from the built construction, these interdependent components are to be arranged according to their importance and ability to undergo delays or changes. As the data of competition holding was set long in advance, time should be constrained and cannot be changed. As regards performance, it may be enhanced implying that it is the number one priority of the whole projects’ conducting because if rides or any of the big airs do not comply with the safety requirements, it may cause injuries to the riders and other troubles unwanted for the competition organizers. However, in case the performance of the snowboarding playground, or in other words its functionality and complicatedness for riders, is improved, the outcomes will outweigh the additional spending from the project budget on them. That is why, changes in costs were marked as accepted (Table …
