Business and Management: Stress
Hello, my name is .... Today I am going to talk about stress, as seen in chapter 18 pages 595-597, because it is a very important management issue that impacts the ability of employees to stay effective. However, I would like concentrate not on stress as a whole but on a more narrow term which is hindrance stressor. As for now, I have no working experience to provide a real workplace example, however, I consider the process of studying to be a very effective example of stress management. The students who are able to manage stress effectively can achieve greater results compared to those who are unable to deal with it.
I think that hindrance stressor can be defined as a negative force that impacts the personal growth and goal attainment. The examples of hindrance stressors include role ambiguity and role conflict. Role ambiguity occurs when an employee does not understand the outcomes of his or her job which increases stress because no clear goal is set. In its turn, role conflict occurs when two people see optimal working conditions differently. For example, two employees have similar tasks but perform them differently. However, those employees who manage to overcome hindrance stressors can achieve a better performance and professional growth. That is why stress can be both positive and negative …
