Leading to Sustainability
Leading to Sustainability is an extremely interesting and helpful course because sustainability has become a strategic imperative in a wide range organizations all over the world. So, I have decided to take this course in order to acquire some useful skills for my future career, such as increasing my capacity to lead systemic changes with sustainability as the main principle, learning from the practice of competent leaders who support sustainable business systems, developing my leadership skills, strengthening my systems thinking skills with the purpose of learning how to solve problems quickly and effectively, as well as a wide range of other important skills.
The thing that motivates me the most is that the Leading for Sustainability course focuses not as much on lecturing, but on devoting more time to students’ hands-on developing of their leadership skills. And having leadership skills is of vital importance in order to be competitive on nowadays world’s market. Attending this particular course, I want to learn how always to keep up with times in business, how to cope with challenging situations and how not to be afraid of challenging partnerships in future when I start my own business. I understand that sustainability has to be a core value of any organization and want to learn as much of this concept as possible in order to reach success in my future career. For this reason, I am also willing to learn major sustainability strategies in order to be able to identify major issues and trends organizations from all over the world face in conceptualizing and implementing sustainability.
By learning sustainability strategies I hope to understand the principles by which sustainability is perceived and implemented better. The most important thing I want to learn is tools and techniques of strategic leadership.I am well aware of the fact that a lot of colleges and universities in the United States, as well as in a number of other developed countries, have offered this course to their students in order to respond to the world’s increasingly urgent challenge and develop the whole generation of sustainability leaders. I am a supporter of the view that one is not born a leader and that one can learn to be a leader. So, taking this course I hope to learn to become the sort of charismatic leader who can transform an entire organization toward some higher ethical purpose through acquiring skills of communication, visioning, loyalty and building trust.A leader on a nowadays world market has to display a high level of integrity and honesty as he is responsible for other people and should play a role model for them.
As a great leader has to create a vivid and compelling vision for a future, he must be able to inspire and motivate others. True leaders have also be able to solve problems and analyze issues quickly and effectively in order to be able to take advantage of all possible opportunities available on the marketplace. …
