INTRODUCTION

Information Technology has seen a massive growth and development througout the years with ever more sophisticated software being developed on an almost daily basis; an added value in all of this is the global reach it now has the ability to cover complicated with more sophisticated forms of hardware such as tablets and smartphones.

As such, copyright infringement and software piracy have also grown in an alarming rate as now virtually everyone has the power to copy, sell and reproduce such specific forms of technology virtually uncontrolled thus it is of no dobut that software companies have declared that such forms of ilegal activities as their biggest concern and it is showing no forms of stopping; a study conducted in 2013 by the Global Sofware Survey and the International Data Corporation showed that 43% of the software installed on personal computers internationally was not properly licensed.

One alarming trend that has been increasing over the years is that of cybercrime and cyberpiracy´s activities that, as such, is carried out either with the downloading or uploading of ilegal software copies on to the internet; there are also more advanced forms of cybercime which have grown in scope and scale such as those carried out by “Anonymous” and other criminal groups which have also directly impacted on both Business and National Security the world over.
